KAKI BEDAL: Highlight More Positive News Like A Grab Driver Act Of Kindness!

By Kaki Bedal

With Covid-19 infection now reaching more than 7,000 cases, things has been looking more discouraging to us since the pandemic hit more than a year ago.

A news report revealed that more than half of the 22 new Covid-19 clusters detected by the Health Ministry as of noon yesterday, 25th May, were linked to workplaces.

In his statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that four of the 13 Covid-19 clusters from workplaces were detected in Johor, with three each in Selangor and Penang.

More discouraging was the frustration and disappointment for Malaysians when trying to register for the voluntary AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine as they tried to book their spot.

Many took to social media when calling out the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee (JKJAV) to rectify issues with the registration site, specifically with choosing the date and location.

Negative news are never ending these days.

Another was the sacking of Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as Prasarana Chairman after his cavalier comments and attempt to joke about the LRT crash at the KLCC station.

Tajuddin also mocked and berated a foreign journalist during a press conference that led to criticism about his conduct and eventual sacking.

Yet another news report said a suspected burglar caused a violent high-speed car chase and an accidental shooting before dying when he leapt down a six-metre-high slope to evade police.

The suspect was trying to flee on foot after he and his girlfriend led police on a high-speed car chase Cheras Sentral to Taman Len Seng, said a local daily.

Coming back to the pandemic, with the latest movement control order just starting, some people are of the view that the authorities should go for tighter rules just like in the early MCO when full lockdown effectively curb infection.

That’s just a sample of negative reports in the last couple days.

Bad news after bad news.

Let me make a point. There are always positive things that happen around us daily too.

So, highlight those more!

Here’s one story involving an act of kindness of a Grab delivery rider who went out of his way that impress his customer, two weeks ago.

According to goodness website, a social media user, Vijaya Kasinathan told how he has forgotten to change his location from Cheras to Puchong when he ordered dinner.

“It was too late when I realized the blunder I had made and called Azrul (the delivery rider) to tell him I’m no longer in the office.

“Asked him to keep the food (Madam Kwan’s) for himself but Azrul said he felt bad that I won’t have anything to eat and decided to send the meal to my house free of charge in Puchong.

“I never anticipated such courtesy and dedication from this young boy. I was truly bowled over,” she wrote and gave Azrul a small ang pow as he came all the way from Cheras.

“This child refused to take the RM100 that I placed in the envelope which he didn’t open until he went to the petrol bunk to fuel up.

“Guess what?” Azrul came back to my house, saying “What you have given me is too much”. I told him, “listen son, no one can put a value to what you just did for me.

“Please accept this, go buy yourself something nice”. Azrul then asked to take a picture with Vijaya.

“I told him to take a photo with my mum who was so touched by Azrul’s gesture.

“Kudos to Azrul, Kudos to Grab Food for an exemplary staff,” Vijaya said.

Azrul’s kindness and thoughtfulness has not gone unnoticed as netizens praised him.

Well done Azrul!

Malaysia certainly needs more people like him. This is a clear example of positivity that should be highlighted more.

While the moon is beautiful, the sun plays its part too!
