CIMB Group has appointed Paul Wong Chee Kin as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of CIMB Thai, effective Feb 1, 2021.
CIMB Group chairman Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad said Thailand is a strategic market for CIMB as the bank works towards its vision to be the leading focused ASEAN bank.
“Wong’s extensive industry and management experience will be instrumental in driving our ambitions and plans to build an even stronger and sustainable CIMB franchise for the benefit of our clients,” he said in a statement.
Wong succeeded Sutee Losoponkul, who was acting president and CEO since September 2020 following the departure of the previous CEO, Adisorn Sermchaiwong.
“Sutee will remain with CIMB Thai and assume the role as advisor to the president and CEO up to Dec 31, 2021 and these appointments have received approval from the Bank of Thailand,” Mohd Nasir said.
