Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir as its group managing director (MD) effective Oct 1.
In a statement today, it said Syed Zainal would take over from Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusof, who has been acting group MD since June 29 this year.
DNeX chairman Tan Sri Abd Rahman Mamat said Syed Zainal’s appointment was part of efforts to drive the group’s business in e-services and energy to the changing economic conditions.
Syed Zainal was previously appointed as the group’s independent non-executive director on July 1, 2020.
He also held key positions in established corporations, including at Proton Holdings Bhd as group managing director, RHB Bank Bhd and RHB Islamic Bank Bhd as independent non-executive director, and Petronas Dagangan Bhd as chief executive office and managing director.
He currently serves as Universiti Teknologi MARA chairman.
Meanwhile, Mohd Azhar will be redesignated as executive director in charge of group corporate services.
