Foreign Investors Are Bursa’s Net Buyers Six Weeks In A Row

Foreign investors remained net buyers of Malaysian equities for the week ended September 17 with a net inflow of RM125.97 million, MIDF Research said.

The firm said this was the sixth consecutive week of net buying by the foreign investors.

MIDF Research said as the market reopened last Monday, foreign investors were net buyers amounting to RM58.39 million.

This was followed by retailers with a net buying of RM63.50 million, while local institutions were net sellers to the tune of RM121.89 million.

“Foreign investors were net buyers for everyday of the week except on Friday,” MIDF Research said in its weekly fund flow report today.

The largest foreign inflow was recorded on Wednesday with the smallest inflow on Monday to the tune of RM76.96 million and RM58.39 million respectively.

The net selling by foreign investors on Friday amounted to RM72.65 million.

As for retailers, MIDF Research said they were net buyers throughout the week with the largest net buying recorded on Friday and the small on Wednesday with RM81.57 million and RM6.97 million respectively.

Cumulatively for the week, retailers net bought RM211.55 million worth of equities in Bursa Malaysia.

Local institutions recorded cumulative weekly net selling of RM337.92 million.

MIDF Research said local institutions were net sellers for everyday of the week with the largest on Tuesday with RM123.18 million, while the lowest on Friday (RM8.92 million).

Since the beginning of 2021, retailers have been the only net buyers of the equity market with RM10.04 billion.

Local institutions and foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of RM6.38 billion and RM3.66 billion, respectively.

In terms of participation, MIDF Research said retailers, local institutions and foreign investors recorded a weekly movement of 4.67 per cent, -6.08 per cent and 45.97 per cent respectively in average daily trade value. – NST ONLINE
