KAKI BEDAL: “Kaw Kaw” Issues And Cheating “Kaw Kaw”

By Kaki Bedal

What happened in 2018 might never be repeated again.

That year, a political bloc campaigned fully and effectively to dethrone the biggest political party in Malaysia who had been in power for more than six decades.

That is now ancient history. We know the issues that had been used against the then ruling bloc.

Subsequently, the country had to witness three governments in power.

Let us cut to the chase.

Whether it’s an election year or not at the moment, there is one term which is the most important for any rulers to answer and that is – bread and butter issues.

People currently are discussing and taking pot shots at the authorities about the lack of eggs in the market.

Generally, there is also talk about prices of essential goods spiking.

Who can we blame it on?

Why is this happening?

Can anybody control it?

On top of that, there are also question marks on the economy and political front, apart from Covid issues since two years ago.

These are what I called kaw kaw issues. Yet, not many try to explain and propose solutions bar the dethroned political party and a former PM.

As for a political bloc that won the 14th GE but now struggling to win over the public, they’re quiet like a mouse with hardly any ideas to tackle the issue.

This is not a surprise. Even when they became the government for 22 months, all they did was disappointing the voters and keep giving excuses for not keeping their promises.

The sentiment has truly changed against them as they are now associated more with dishonesty or cheating kaw kaw, or using the Malay word – kencing.

If there is one tagline among many that might be popular even in the Johor state election later this month, one might be tempted to use #kaki kencing kaw kaw, to describe them.

After the big kaw kaw losses in Malacca and Sarawak state elections, will Johor be next? Maybe they will keep #kalah kaw kaw, too?

Apologies to the bungkus kaw kaw food establishment for using the kaw kaw words but it is necessary to highlight kaw kaw the error of that particular bloc to Malaysian voters.
