KAKI BEDAL: Now Everyone Can Do ‘Sumpah Laknat’

By Kaki Bedal

This  nation really needs leaders who lead.

Not leaders who likes to blame and accused other people for wrongdoing all the time.

It is easy to talk. But, to deliver something?

It is harder. Let’s be nostalgic and remember the 22 months of a certain political bloc rule.

You are welcomed to comment the 22 months of that bloc in power. How would you describe it? Good, better, best or bad, worse, worst?

As a commoner, someone who is not a member of any political party, the one positive  thing about that particular bloc is that they have a clean slate from which to work from.

But, even with that one positive thing, they’ve mucked it up or messed it up when they did not improved on our sosio-economic wellbeing by endless politicking and blame game.

So, do we want another administration who likes to talk and talk? Or do we want a government that prioritize citizen’s wellbeing?

Continuing on the theme ‘Malaysians are smarter than what the politicians think,’ the days when one judge politicians by looking at the printed media are long gone.

Now, people have many sources of news and reports. They understand what is right and wrong. What is justice and injustice. Good and bad in essence.

So, are we still talking about black shoes for school kids? Flying car? No more tolls? Free education? Cash assistance of RM30, anyone?  PTPTN loan solved? One full trolley of groceries for RM50? Another round of petrol for RM1.50 per litre promotion?

Talk all we want. Since 2018 14th general election, we have witnessed three administrations which is basically the same individuals except for the current one, a Prime Minister but not of the top man of the biggest party in the nation.

The issue is stability. Who can provide stability?

What kind of stability? Make the wrong choice, instability or worse is just around the corner.

A former Prime Mnister responsible for the longest stability, especially economic, has been sent to prison. Simple question – has any of the leaders since him been able to stabilise the country, economically?

What did we see, instead? Post 2018, the leaders oversaw an economic decline helped by inconsistent sometimes ill-advised moves like allowing certain people (tourists) from a pandemic country to come into Malaysia despite concerns of infection spreading.

Internal political infighting then contributed to his downfall.

Though, economic concerns was then already a big factor.

He was replaced by an ally turned enemy, who then executed the lockdown, the longest in the world, some say, which led to more economic misery to vulnerable groups, though he managed to spend billions of ringgit to ‘jaga’ the economy.

Another round of political uncertainty then came into the picture forcing him to hand power to the current Prime Minister.

But, has things improved?

Yes and no. Yes, things are getting done in terms of the administering of the country. No, if you consider that the cost of living and economic uncertainty continues.

The 65th Merdeka celebrations has come and gone. Four years after the last general election, have we gained anything from three administrations in such a short time span?

The answer is yes. We gained more knowledge and insight about who really have the people’s welfare in their hearts and who who’re only interested to be in power, full stop.

One huge signal about Malaysians change of hearts is how many people warmly talked about the former PM who was sent to prison.

It is not about the individual but the things he has done to show the government cared during his administration.

Furthermore, the world acknowledged him and his way of tackling people’s issues.

When he goes to makan, many said hello, shake his hand, did the selfie with him and some even apologized to him for believing made up stories from the other sides.

Well, since the ‘sumpah laknat’, i know of certain person(s) who were admitted to hospital  while others faced personal health crisis.

Remember this – being imprison does not mean one cannot be effective in haunting your nemesis. Similar to ‘Now, everyone can fly,’  perhaps changed to ‘Now, everyone can do ‘sumpah laknat’. – BACALAHMALAYSIA.MY
