Payments for Bantuan Khas Covid-19 (BKC) aid will be made in cash to recipients without any bank accounts residing in rural areas.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the move is among measures carried by the Finance Ministry to simplify the disburment of the cash aid to recipients.
“I received reports directly from Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and his deputy Mohd Shahar Abdullah who went to the ground to see for themselves the disbursement of the BKC aid at the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) in Putrajaya and in Triang, Pahang respectively.
“I was informed that the ministry will simplify the distribution of the BKC aid for the people in rural areas through cash payment without any bank accounts.
“I hope the aid could in someway lessen the burden of our ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ who are affected by the (economic) impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Ismail Sabri in a Facebook post today.
The prime minister also said he had the opportunity to “virtually” mingle with the recipients of the aid at the BSN outlets in several parts of the country.
“Alhamdulillah, this morning I had the opportunity to virtually monitor the payment for Phase One of the BKC aid which is being made in stages through selected financial institutions involving an allocation of RM3.1 billion.
“I also had the opportunity to do a virtual check on recipients of the aid at several BSN branches including those in Sabah, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perlis and Johor to ensure it is being done smoothly,” he said. – NST ONLINE
