MY JET Xpress Airlines is eyeing to expand its cargo services to a few provinces in China, including Shen Zhen in the first quarter of next year.
Its chief executive officer, Azrul Hisham Abdul Wahab said it is timely for the airline to venture into China’s market as demand for cargo services is seen to be very encouraging amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apart from that, he said the cargo airline will also be adding frequencies with its new 9M-NEW aircraft which would start its operation tonight (yesterday).
From next week onwards, we will be also adding frequencies from Peninsular Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak for express operation while operating normal services to Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam,” he told a press conference after attending the Appreciation to Frontliners and Inauguration Flight Ceremony (9M-NEW), today.
Azrul Hisham said the fourth new aircraft was meant to start its operation in second quarter of 2021, but was pushed forward to this year due to overwhelming market demand.
“We will be adding another frequency at 5pm and 6pm from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, respectively, to the initial frequency at 11am daily to both places,” he said.
He said My JET is also looking forward to venture into other segments in the aviation industry, namely the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector, apart from cargo operation.
“We are also looking into a vaccine transportation project as we have adequate infrastructure and relevant equipment for the operation but it’s too early for us to predict, as we still have not gotten the vaccine in Malaysia,” he added. — BERNAMA
