Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin as its chairman effective from October 1.
Hasan, 68, was deputy Menteri Besar of Pahang (1995-1999) and the current Rompin Member of Parliament.
He was appointed chairman of Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd last year.
He was chairman of Lembaga Kemajuan Perusahaan Pertanian Negeri Pahang (1990-1999), chairman of Lembaga Pembangunan Wilayah Pahang Tenggara (1995-1998) and chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) (2015-2018).
Hasan was a member of the board of directors of the Federal Land Development Authority from 1991 to 1995 and Uda Holdings Bhd from 2010-2015.
Hassan said he would not only continue the great work of his predecessors who had ensured a fair and reasonable return to all shareholders through dividends, but also maintained the practice of good governance, transparency and accountability.
“On behalf of the board of directors, management and 35,000 employees of TNB, I welcome the appointment of Datuk Seri Hasan to Tenaga Nasional,” TNB president and chief executive officer Datuk Baharin Din said in a statement. – BACALAHMALAYSIA.MY/NST ONLINE
