3M, the global science company, announced the appointment of GT Lim as the conglomerate’s new Country Leader for Malaysia earlier this year.
Along with this appointment, 3M has also recently announced that GT Lim will take an additional role as the Southeast Asia Region Sales Operations Leader where he will be responsible for effective implementation of sales and operational strategies in the region.
Prior to his appointment as Country Leader, GT Lim held the role of General Manager for the Transportation and Electronics Business Group with 3M Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
In his new leadership role, GT Lim will now be a part of the Southeast Asian leadership team where he will be working closely with his counterparts across the region to ace business transformation progress, accelerate growth and deliver greater operational efficiencies.
As the Country Leader, GT Lim will also be responsible for the brand’s overall reputation as well as management of external stakeholder relationships in Malaysia.
He will also see to the building of new talent, ensuring employee engagement and being actively involved with community events.
Additionally, he will be involved in creating collaborative opportunities with various business groups and enterprises to expand 3M’s footprint in the region.
Along with managing 3M’s brand reputation, as Southeast Asia Region Sales Operational Leader, GT Lim will also be leading the SEA Region Inside Sales (IS), Customer Face Data Management (CFDM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Point of Sales (POS), Sales Incentive Plan (SIP), Product Application Support (PAS) and Sales Support (SS).
Lim said he is ready and excited to take on the challenge to lead and transform 3M’s charter in Malaysia. “This is an exciting opportunity for me to leverage 3M’s expertise in technology and science to drive impactful changes in the country.

GT Lim has been a part of 3M Malaysia for over two decades and has held several key roles within the company prior to helming the organisation’s growth in Malaysia.
Starting his career with 3M in 1997, GT Lim has been an integral member of several business and functions including Personal Safety Division, Head of Technical, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and General Manager for Safety & Graphic Business Group, demonstrating his understanding of technical know-hows and a strong work ethic that catapulted Lim as 3M’s Country Leader.
A strong advocate of occupational safety and health, GT Lim is also one of founding members of the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association (MIHA).
A non-profit professional organization and among the pioneer of its kind in Southeast Asia, MIHA provides education, training, forums for the exchange of ideas and information along with representing the interests of Industrial Hygienists in the country.
GT Lim continues to be based in Malaysia. He will be working closely with Kevin McGuigan, Southeast Asia Managing Director in his Country Leader role.
GT Lim holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) Degree in Chemistry from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
