Johari Ghani: Political stability key to attracting investments, Maju Johor 2030

The Maju Johor 2030 agenda, which promises development and thousands of jobs, will not be achieved without a stable government with a clear mandate, says Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

Johari, who is the investment, trade and industry minister, said political stability was the key to attracting foreign investment into the state.

“If there is no political stability, we will have problems (attracting investors). Johor’s contribution to the gross domestic product is very high compared with other states because its politics are stable,” he said at the Wacana Kempas programme.

Johari said Johor’s strong infrastructure was another advantage in attracting foreign investors, particularly those from Singapore.

“Investors look at infrastructure before considering what we have to offer. For data centre investments, they look at whether we have enough electricity and water,” he said.

“That is why we see RM110 billion in investments coming into Johor,” he said.

He said Johoreans would decide next Saturday whether the state continued to enjoy political stability.

“Johor cannot develop without this (political stability),” he said at the event that was also attended by Barisan Nasional’s Kempas candidate Datuk Ramlee Bohani and Dewan Negara Deputy Speaker Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed. – NST ONLINE
