In conjunction with his working visit to Washington D.C., Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, held a historic first bilateral meeting with his counterpart, H.E. Jamieson Greer, the United States Trade Representative (USTR).
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized Malaysia’s strategic role as a trusted trading partner and an essential contributor to the global high-tech manufacturing supply chain, including for the United States.
Both parties discussed opportunities to further strengthen bilateral trade ties based on mutual interests.
Discussions also touched on developments surrounding investigations under Section 301 and Section 232, which could potentially impact Malaysian exports.
Malaysia expressed its hope that any trade actions initiated by the United States would take shared interests into account, complement existing bilateral trade dynamics, and support the continuity of a stable and resilient global supply chain.
Furthermore, both nations agreed to continue working together constructively to address trade concerns through close dialogue, active engagement, and transparent exchange of information.
