Best Actress Oscar Winner Michelle Yeoh Dedicates Historic Win To Mother Janet Yeoh

Mum’s the word.

As she made history, it was her mother that actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh thanked.

“She’s watching right now in Malaysia, KL with my family and friends — I love you guys.

Malaysian-born Yeoh, 60, made history today by becoming the first Asian, first South-east Asian and first Malaysian to win an Oscar for Best Actress.

Visibly overcome with emotion, she continued: “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities.

“This is proof that dreams do come true.

“And ladies don’t let anybody ever tell you, you are past your prime, never give up.”

Yeoh thanked the cast and crew of Everything, Everywhere, All At Once by saying: “I wouldn’t be standing here tonight without the Daniels, without A24, without my amazing cast and crew, without everyone who was involved with Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

She also thanked her extended family in Hong Kong where she started her career.

“Thank you for letting me stand on your shoulders, giving me a leg up so I can be here today.”

Before she ended, she thanked her family: “To my godchildren, to my sisters, all of them, to my brothers, oh god to my family — thank you, thank you.

“Thank you to the academy, this is history in the making. – MALAY MAIL ONLINE
