KAKI BEDAL: Another Attempt To Wreck A Legitimate Business?

By Kaki Bedal

Some time ago, it’s Lynas. Some politicians favourite target by saying and accusing the company of many things without having to prove them.

After one perhaps two election cycle, Lynas is still standing, proving those with their own agenda wrong.

Why? Because Lynas is a perfectly built business, solidified by good business practices, ethics and integrity.

China is making big business out of rare earth with Lynas the only credible competitor and back by science, its a multi billion dollar business.

Now, apparently, some people are after Grab. Another perfectly built business model without the radioactive element.

This is how one gets to destroy a legitimate business in Malaysia – start with labelling the business with a bad word.

For Lynas, the word is ‘radioactive’.

For Grab, the word is ‘monopoly’.

Just because there is no equivalent rival, so Grab is labelled a monopoly and how that is Grab’s fault is anybody’s guess.

If anybody wants to check the kind of monopolistic company Grab is, check out its website.

Any person will instantly recognized no such thing as Grab provides many services, contributing to the local economy and having cooperated with the government in terms of providing employment too.

Even though netizen gave some thoughts about Grab in the good way in Facebook comments, such as;

Grab provided income to many people especially during this pandemic period. You should have thank grab for their services and supporting the economy. Sometimes, GRAB serves the people more than politicians does! Grab gives the people money worth services instead of vote-unworthy-politicians!
Grab is much cheaper than taxis. Monopoly is good if the public benefits from it.
Grab is the most convenient to use. You can hire them where ever you are. So what is the problems. Unlike taxi where we need to find them in sight. For Grab our handphone will do the finding. Agreed ??.
While the intention is good in order to prevent monopoly. But why single out grab? There is this TNB, Telekom and Syabas too. While grab has done a good job by providing an alternative to the over priced taxi… TNB, Telekom and Syabas keep on providing lousy service at the expense of the rakyat interest due to monopoly. The opposition MPs should have highlight and punish these corrupted GLC and not a decent effort by an entrepreneur who has change the landscape of public taxi services and provide a better service in the industry. Pls speak out more against these unscrupulous GLCs….
Anybody stop you to form a Grab car alike company ? No right ? Anybody stop GLC and private conglomerate set up e hailing company ? No right ? Did Grab company got the Sole license the only e hailing company ? No right ? Did Grab force you to take their e hailing ? No right ? They r taxi , others e hailing , Rapid bus , Lrt , Monorail n MRT in town right ?
So what do you mean by monopoly ??? What’s the big hoo ha here YB ???
# Fyi I m not Grab driver & fans but i m a fans of free trade n liberalisation
Many drivers earn their living working for Grab. Please don’t disturb Grab. Please find some other issues. Like logging/deforestration/child abuse/women’s rights/pollution
Monopoly…??? Uh..i thought there are more than one ehailing services in the market….? Didnt know that Grab is the only one providing such service…….

By all means, go to the website – www.grab.com/my/ – and then decide.
