PM: Govt’s Inclusive Approach Has Helped Restore Political Stability

The inclusive approach adopted by the federal administration has helped to ensure political stability in the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the federal government’s achievements and progress had also exceeded the expectations of political observers on the stability of the administration under his leadership.

“Uncertainty and instability had enveloped the government when I took over the helm.

“Based on previous incidents of party-hopping, there were quarters who had predicted that this ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ (Malaysian Family) government could collapse at anytime.

“I am grateful that this prediction did not come to pass and that this government is turning a year old today,” the Bera member of parliament said at the launch of the ‘Keluarga Malaysia Symposium: Achievements and Aspirations’ event here today.

Present were Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and several cabinet members.

Ismail Sabri said unique situations demanded unique approaches.

He said that under his leadership, the administration, upon the advice of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah, adopted an initiative where it had put aside differences by entering a cooperation that transcended political parties.

The prime minister was referring to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Transformation and Political Stability inked between the government and Pakatan Harapan in September last year.

Ismail Sabri also said he would let the facts speak for itself on the achievements made by the federal government under his leadership.

He added that he refused to “mendabik dada” (sing his own praises) and harp on the accomplishments of the current administration.

He nevertheless conceded that there were still things that could be done to help and improve the wellbeing and welfare of the people.

“There are many agendas that need to be implemented.

“There are many more people, be it the poor or people with different abilities, who require our assistance,” he said.

Ismail Sabri added that a government would become strong and effective only with support from all quarters.

“Alhamdulillah, members of this administration have never disputed (over the contributions made) between them.

“We also recognise and never take lightly the contributions made by civil servants,” he said.

At the same event, Ismail Sabri said he would be announcing “good news” for civil servants on Aug 30.

The announcement, he said, was to recognise the contributions civil servants had made to the country.

“The police, Armed Forces, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Welfare Department, the Health Department and those in other agencies continue to show commitment in carrying out their responsibilities even when the country was facing a challenging period.

“The Keluarga Malaysia administration recognises the sacrifices made by civil servants under the leadership of the Chief Secretary to the Government.

“Insya-Allah, I will announce something cheerful to boost the spirits of civil servants during the ‘Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam’ on Aug 30.

“Just wait. Even I myself am still thinking about the announcement (the good news to announce on that day),” he said. – NST ONLINE
