KAKI BEDAL: Muafakat Nasional, A Government in-Waiting ?

By Kaki Bedal

So everything comes down to this – blame it on the politicians, from the Prime Minister to others inside Perikatan Nasional and the ever quick to complain opposition, after the announcement of the emergency.

But, the reason for the messy situation actually goes back to the results of the 14th general election when the voters, especially the young voter group, decided to ditch Barisan Nasional for Pakatan Harapan.

While we know the reasons behind their choice, it is now obvious that the voters had realised their mistake to opt for Pakatan Harapan, a greenhorn of an administrator, over the experienced BN.

The choice for PM saga, the incessant insults against the majority Malays and Muslims, death of a fireman during a temple fracas, the failure on dealing with Sg Kim Kim pollution, the manifesto is not the Bible statement, the decision to drop charges against Lim Guan Eng despite the case already in court, and other cases involving Pakatan people, the utter failure to build on the economy, the sale on the cheap of national assets before the resignation of the oldest PM, are still fresh in our minds.

And there’s more.

Remember don’t stop foreigners coming in after the virus started to hit?

Or the diplomatic disasters that saw other countries took action against our palm oil?

One can go on and on about Pakatan’s disastrous time in power.

Or ‘gagalkrasi’, to lend a word from the former PM who is now more popular than the present PM due to his ideas on helping the rakyat facing the pandemic.

It was 22 months of endless nightmare, lurching from crisis to crisis, ironically all due to Pakatan own errors.

While we cannot deny that BN has some problems of their own, in terms of administering the country, they are far more better than Pakatan.

Let’s just give one example, involving a former PM who shall remain unnamed but continues to offer his take on current developments without resorting to insults but using good arguments.

Quite a few people had openly apologized to him personally or through social media for their mistakes in believing all the slander against him during the last election, are proof enough.

He continues to suggest a way out for the current government facing Covid-19, EPF withdrawal being one example, anti Covid measures, especially after the proclamation of emergency.

Guess we are in a situation of neither here or there.

Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional suffer from lack of trust and confidence.

Maybe the next course of action is to seriously consider Muafakat Nasional !

Time to choose again in due time.
