KAKI BEDAL: ‘No Nego, Go Solo’ The 2022 Buzzword

By Kaki Bedal

If there is one irony about politics, it is that politicians here don’t care whether what they say is actually a mirror of their own reflections.

One good example was the leader of a new party, established to face GE14, who rages against a party member who decided to leave the party, calling it unethical or against integrity.

Whether he realises it or not, or simply don’t care, the fact that he himself is a frog – a term popular in Malaysia these days – demolishes his own stand on the matter.

A case of, its okay if I do it, but not if you do it.

What double standard and hypocritical way of thinking!

Another leader of a more religious associated party is yet another such example.

One should mentioned that it is a sad moment when this particular leader – seen as a pious Muslim – choose to characterise another Muslim party leader(s) using the animal analogy.

Calling the biggest political party as ‘itik kaki patah’ – duck with a broken leg – is one thing, but it is hugely ironic considering his own party failed to win a single seat in the Malacca state elections recently.

Who exactly is broken here?

Yes, there is no perfection in anything humans do, but do be careful about characterising others especially your own Muslim brethren.

It is also timely to remind him that non-Muslims are also watching what he says and does and the same goes to his other colleagues.

In another way, surely he and other people of the same ilk are actually helping to build support to his one time Muafakat Nasional ally by behaving illogicaly and condescendingly toward his co-religionists?

Things got a bit more hysterical when a well known veteran journalist pour more oil to the fire when he cynically described the ulamak’s party was pooped by the supposed ally.

The barometer is, the religious party was only offered four seats by the MN ally while the newly established party offered 16.

If one does not take into account the frogs dominated new party and the fact that the ulamak’s party is not strong in either Malacca and Johor, then one should be able to draw the conclusion that that’s indeed the case.

If one do take into consideration that factor, then one will understand something else, that it is in the interest of the ulamak to support his ally.

Don’t want to be with a winner?

Then, it is understandable why that ally should continue with the tagline ‘no nego, go solo.’ – BACALAHMALAYSIA.MY
