Malaysia HR Forum 2023: Unlocking the Secrets to Building Resilient-Proof Organizations

The Malaysia HR Forum Conference and Exhibition 2023 boasting more than 850 attendees and 65 exhibitors from across Malaysia on 8 June 2023 was a resounding success.

The conference brought together industry and thought leaders to discuss challenges facing the human resources industry as well as to share tips and tricks for building resilient-proof organisations.

The conference featured a keynote speech from Datuk Shahul Dawood, Chief Executive of Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), who said, “The need for the leaders of the industry to get together and exchange ideas is very important, therefore events like these have meaningful impact on our industry.

“We need to reach out to our stakeholders and understand the issues, the grievances happening on-ground, and it is through these events that we get to connect and understand each other better.

“Change is a constant, which is why it is imperative the industry stays current, allowing us to be agile and adapt with the times.”

In another keynote by Thomas Mathew, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Talent Corp Group of Companies said, “Challenges faced by the talent ecosystem include how skilled jobs do not grow in proportion with the number of skilled workers in the market; there are more of the latter, leading to unemployed skilled workers. Another challenge is the retention of workforce, as women, while there are 60% of them in higher learning institutions, only 38% of women are retained in the skilled workforce.”

Furthering the topic of the day was  Azirruan Arifin, Chief Executive of Employment Insurance System (PERKESO) who shared his insight on ways to frame compensation expectations in a talent-driven market.

“We need to create market-compliant compensation plans backed by market research and coupled with ongoing evaluations. There also needs to be a comprehensive view of remuneration that considers all the factors influencing the expectations of the modern workforce. Then, there’s the question of putting these plans to work and maintaining transparency throughout.”

In addition, the conference also featured a series of panel discussions where delegates had the opportunity to learn from experts in the field.

Topics covered included talent management, employment law and industrial relations, learning development, HR Tech 4.0 and transformation, and total rewards.

“We are thrilled with the success of the Malaysia HR Forum Conference and Exhibition 2023,” said Arulkumar Singaraveloo Chief Executive Officer, HR Forum Malaysia. “The conference provided a valuable platform for HR professionals to learn from each other and to share best practices for building resilient-proof organisations. We are grateful to our keynote speakers and all of our delegates for making this event such a success.”
