UMW Holdings Bhd’s automotive sales have surged to a new high in November this year as both subsidiary UMW Toyota Motor and associate company Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua sdn Bhd (Perodua) post record sales.
UMW said it has delivered 39,034 units in November, 11 per cent more than the 35,130 units registered in October.
Year-to-date till November, the group delivered a total of 341,390 units, 48 per cent higher than the 230,355 units registered a year ago.
The lower 230,355 units had been affected by the implementation of the Full Movement Control Order from June 1 to August 15 2021, the group noted.
Perodua achieved its highest ever monthly sales with the registration of 28,592 units in November, 11 per cent more than the 25,849 units registered in October.
The top three Perodua models sold in November were the Bezza, Myvi and Axia.
Perodua also achieved its highest monthly production ever since inception with 29,149 units in November.
For the first 11 months of 2022, Perodua’s sales surged by 50 per cent to 250,795 units, compared with the 167,250 units registered in the corresponding period of 2021, surpassing its 2022 sales target of 247,800 units.
UMW Holdings president and group chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said UMW Toyota and Perodua were supported by the improving supply chain and would continue to ramp-up production to hasten delivery.
“With the strong sales registered to-date, mainly due to the sales tax exemption as well as introduction of new models, we were able to achieve our sales targets for 2022 by November. We expect sales to remain strong in December based on the encouraging bookings,” he added. – NST ONLINE
