Malaysia reported 922 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, first time the country recorded a three-digit daily toll since March 29, 2021.
Data on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website showed that of the new cases, only one was imported.
A total 4,451,781 people in Malaysia were infected with Covid-19 since the pandemic began two years ago.
Active cases also further reduced to 31,883 after 5,520 people recovered from coronavirus yesterday.
Currently, more than 30,000 of the Covid-19 cases are under home quarantine, 929 treated at hospitals, 14 receiving treatment at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres while 69 patients are warded at the intensive care units (ICU).
Nine people succumbed to the virus yesterday, of which, five were identified as brought-in-dead cases.
Meanwhile, 24.6 per cent of children or 872,058 have completed two doses of the vaccine.
Data also showed that 43.3 per cent of the same group have at least been inoculated once against the coronavirus.
A total 16,036,202 adults or 68.2 per cent of the adult population have taken their boosters. – NST ONLINE
