The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) will continue to strengthen the implementation of the Save the Malayan Tigers Campaign to increase the involvement of all parties in supporting the government’s efforts to protect the endangered species.
Its Minister Datuk Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah called on all parties to work together and continue to strive to protect and preserve the Malayan Tigers which were an invaluable national treasure.
“Efforts to protect the Malayan Tigers are not the job of the government or some parties alone, but the responsibility of all of us,” he said in a message in conjunction with Global Tiger Day which would be celebrated tomorrow (July 29).
“The Malayan Tigers are threatened with extinction and data show that the Malayan Tigers population is at a very alarming level of less than 200 tigers. The population reduction of the Malayan Tigers is due to several factors such as loss of habitat and range due to deforestation and changes in land use, ”he said. — BERNAMA
